An Invitation: Our first Granola For Good Award
We are proud to be presenting our first Granola for Good Award to IRIS (Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services) an organization that has been serving refugees in New Haven, Connecticut.
This award is the brainchild of our own board member, Sandra Enos, and it is made in memory of Anne Dombrofski, who many of you will remember was Beautiful Day’s first Director of Strategic Partnerships and before that the Director of Development at IRIS.
While Anne Dombrofski passed away two years ago, there is hardly a day that goes by when we don’t think about her. Actually, working for Beautiful Day, it’s pretty hard to go for more than even a few hours without opening or adapting some note (or grant or spreadsheet or brochure or idea) that she worked on. Anne is just part of our DNA as an organization and part of what anchors me in this work. I do truly hope that what Anne cared about, how hard she worked and her deep commitment to serving and celebrating and enjoying refugees stays integral to everything that we do for many years to come.
This award will be part of an evening of film and authentic Persian cuisine hosted by the Unitarian Society of New Haven. The film, Soufra, follows the story of a generational refugee and social entrepreneur. There will also be a short video about Beautiful Day.
Tickets may be purchased online or by contacting the Unitarian Society of New Haven at email@example.com. Your ticket will include the film and light fare by Greenleaf Persian Catering. Greenleaf is owned and operated by a refugee family resettled from Iran by IRIS. Greenleaf also operates a foodtruck which will be onsite for the event.
Post performance talkback with Chris George, IRIS Executive Director & Sam Rose, Owner Greenleaf Catering.
Proceeds to benefit IRIS - Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services.
